On this All Saints, we remember the baptized – our loved ones who now rest in the Lord, and the newly baptized at the beginning of their faith journeys. Grief and hope. Death and new life. Jesus holds it all, reaching into our losses and griefs with resurrection power.

Worship this weekend includes a remembrance of all who have died and all who have been baptized at Trinity since the last All Saints. Join us as we celebrate the God who promises to one day wipe every tear from our eyes.

Rooted in the past and growing into the future, the church must always be reformed in order to live out the love of Christ in an ever-changing world. We celebrate the good news of God’s grace, that Jesus Christ sets us free every day to do this life-transforming work. Trusting in the freedom given to us in baptism, we pray for the church, that Christians will unite more fully in worship and mission.

Generosity Series – Week Two
We continue our three-week Generosity series with a closer look at Youth Ministry.

Jesus said, “Let the children come to me, and do not stop them, for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.” (Matt. 19:14). Trinity seeks to nurture and accompany youth on their journey of life and faith, helping them to grow in relationship with God. Today we celebrate seeds of faith planted long ago, and how God’s Holy Spirit causes faith to blossom and grow. Come and see how youth ministry has impacted past participants and how we continue to plant new seeds of faith in this season.

Fueled by God’s healing love, this ministry empowers dozens of members to provide meaningful care through visits, calls, notes, and home communion visits. Hear from key staff and participants as we celebrate God’s healing love.

A Rite of Healing will also be offered at all services.

Today we hear James warn against selfish ambition, while the disciples quarrel over which one of them is the greatest. Jesus tells them the way to be great is to serve. Then, to make it concrete, he puts in front of them a flesh-and-blood child. We are called to welcome the children God puts in front of us, to make room for them in daily interaction, and to give them a place of honor in our communities.

Remember a time that someone’s words uplifted and encouraged you. It is likely not difficult to remember a time where someone’s words hurt you. We possess power with our word both to raise up and to tear down. A much greater power comes from Christ’s word, which reveals what is true and sets us free. What word will be on our lips?

James tells us that faith does not pay mere lip service to God’s will. Instead, a living faith expresses itself in acts of compassion and mercy for those in need. In Mark’s gospel, encounters with women usually signify turning points in Jesus’ ministry. A conversation with a Syrophoenician woman marks the beginning of his mission to the Gentiles.
