Third Sunday in Lent
Key Speaker: Pastor Daniel Hanson
Season: Lent
Series: Tell Me Something Good
Description:
Lent was originally a season for new converts to Christianity to learn and prepare for their baptism on Easter. During that time, they would study what was central to Jesus’ life and ministry: God’s mercy, radical welcome, love for neighbor, care for the vulnerable, nourishment for the hungry, and nonviolence in the face of injustice. At the heart of Jesus’ teachings, we find liberation, love, mercy, and grace—good news for us and for all people.
The Good News is Together, the Impossible is Possible
Five loaves and two fish feed over 5000 people. Meager provisions multiply so that thousands are fed. Jesus models a way to be in community by coming together and sharing what we have, dispelling perceived impossibilities. The good news empowers us to believe in the miracles that can become possible through the power of community.
