Welcome to Trinity’s New Parish Administrator

If you see a new face around Trinity’s office, it’s most likely our new Parish Administrator, Rhonda Schmidtke! She officially began her new role on May 4. Schmidtke is no stranger to being a staff member in a Lutheran church. She was Business Manager at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City for a couple years while also being City Clerk of Marble Rock, the position she most recently had before making the switch to Trinity.

Schmidtke grew up south of Charles City (“close to Marble Rock!”) and graduated from high school there. She later attended AIB and stayed home to raise her three boys: the youngest who will now be graduating from RRMR school district this year; her middle son, who now lives north of Floyd and works at Molstead Motors as a service tech, and her oldest son, who was married last year and lives south of Charles City and works at Zoetis.

Schmidtke is engaged to Mike McAvoy and the two of them love to travel all over the U.S., buying, selling and trading long-horn cattle and mules. “If we’re not buying or selling, we’re riding,” she laughed. “And it’s riding season now!”

She looks forward to being around the church atmosphere and people again, as that is what she enjoyed every day while being in the St. John position. Being a City Clerk was a “little lonely” as she ran a one-person office. “It’ll be nice to have co-workers again!” Schmidtke exclaimed.
