Description:
The parable of the tenants and the vineyard may seem like a straightforward criticism by Jesus of those first tenants entrusted with the care of the people. Seen in the context of its placement in Matthew’s gospel toward the end of Jesus’ earthly ministry, it can serve as a mirror of where we were, where we are, and where we need to be going.
