In the Epistle to the Romans we hear that nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus. As individuals neither hardship, or distress, or persecution will separate us from God or each other. Nor will congregations be separated. We are one in Christ. In today’s gospel, Jesus offers parables that reveal to us the reign of God: a tree that becomes a sheltering home, yeast that penetrates and expands, a treasured pearl.
