Poor Jonah never could get comfortable with God’s call—or with God’s extravagant mercy. He was uncomfortable in the storm, the belly of the fish, and most of all with God’s compassion for Nineveh. Like Jonah, we often struggle when God’s grace extends to people we don’t think deserve it. Could it be that the more uncomfortable we become with the reckless love of God, the closer we are to understanding the true meaning of grace?
